If you have watched me for sometime, you probably know that the season finale of season 2 was my favourite episodes ever XD
I've been wanting to draw a picture of Young Cadence and Twilight together for some time, and now I finally got around to do it.
In this picture, Twilight have been accepted at Magic School (That's why she has her cutie mark) and have just learned to move stuff with her magic. So to demonstrate this for her beloved babysitter, she picked the prettiest flower she could find and gives it to Cadence.
I'm really proud over how this background turned out, I think I caught the happy mood quite well.
Constructive crtique is always welcome though

I had some doubts with this one though.
The heads look a little elongated. I guess you could slap me with a wet fish for being stupid, but they looked a little horsey for me. I know this is My Little Pony, but the heads are usually a smaller shape, with shorter, stubbed snouts.
The eyes were bigger than usual, and this was a little off-putting. Twilight's eyes are almost bigger than her face. I guess you can blow that off as personal dislike if you wish.
I loved the special detail you gave to the horns, it was one of the things that sold me this work. All in all, I give it an 8/10, and hope you continue putting great work like this out!
As for the backgrounds we have another case of both good design and colouring. The image is welcoming and pleasant and there are many details here that show just how much time and effort have gone into making this image as good as it can be. The details on the grass for example, or the cherry blossoms in the distance. All of these elements have come together to create a picture that not only has impressive foreground elements, but also a good background to put them in, which is something many artists have suffered with.
As I’ve said in previous critiques, I judge a picture not only on the quality of it’s artwork but also on it’s ability to influence me or others into feeling certain emotions. Can it make me sad? Happy? Angry? This picture for example succeeds in giving a sense of calm and relaxation. I look at it and I can’t help but feel “I’m in a good place right now”. The simple actions of the character, the serene nature of the environment their in and the (I hesitate to use this term” “adorableness” of it all really soothes me to look at it.
In fact, the only real criticism I can throw at this picture is in the area of originality. I have, at this point, seen many pictures depicting these two characters when they were younger and in a “foal-sitting” scenario, so I’m afraid the picture suffers in that regard. But to me, that’s not real issue as it’s by far the best of such pictures that I’ve seen so far. It’s the best drawn at least anyway.
All-in-all this is a pleasant picture that’s well-drawn and manages to stay faithful to the style of the show whilst also showing off the talents of the artist. A very worthy piece.
